What are the goals of the MCIR?
To protect children and communities from vaccine-preventable diseases.

To decrease the number of missed opportunities to provide immunizations to children.

To increase Michigan’s childhood immunization rates.
What is the purpose of the MCIR?
The MCIR electronically records a child’s immunization history. Within minutes, public and private providers can receive reliable immunization information that allows them to determine exactly what shots that child needs. By making up to date immunization records available to physicians participating in the MCIR statewide, there is a significant reduction in the occurrence of over immunization and a significant increase in the opportunity to adequately immunize children.

What is the Target Population of the MCIR?
Children birth through 19 years of age.

How does a provider access the MCIR?
To obtain registration information please contact Julie L. Clark, Region 6 MCIR Coordinator at 1-888-217-3905.
