What is the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR)?
The MCIR is now a repository for immunization information for all Michiganders, not just childhood immunizations.
Public Act 91
In accordance with Public Act 91 of the Public Acts of 2006, the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has established the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR) to record information regarding immunization administrations by health care providers.
Public Act 540
Under Public Act 540 of 1996 and the Administrative Rules [R325.163] which govern the immunizations given to children, a physician who administers immunizations to a child is required to report this information to the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR), formerly the Michigan Childhood Immunization Registry.
The NEW MCIR Vaccine Inventory Module/Management "VIM" system will be available to all Michigan Providers who participate in the Vaccine For Children "VFC" Program starting in 2008.
